Do you ever walk into your home and feel like something’s just not right? Maybe it’s cluttered, chaotic, or just not as peaceful as you’d like.

That was exactly how I felt about my house. It was time for a change, so I decided to try Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese practice of arranging spaces to create harmony and balance.

Let me give you some background on how I applied Feng Shui before and after effects in different rooms and the magical transformations.

Feng Shui Before: The Whole House

When I first moved into my house, I was so excited about the extra space that I didn’t think much about organization or flow.

Over time, the entryway became a catch-all for everything. Coming home after a long day, I’d drop my bag, kick off my shoes, and just leave them by the door.

My living room used to be a dumping ground for everything- mail, clothes, and random items I couldn’t find a place for. Every time I walked in, I felt overwhelmed by the mess. It wasn’t a place I wanted to spend time in.

My home office desk faced the wall, with my back to the door. I often felt uneasy, like something was always happening behind me. This made it hard to focus on my work.

3. Imbalance of Elements:

My living room was filled with sleek metal furniture and electronics, but it lacked balanced five elements, warmth and natural elements. It felt more like a showroom than a cozy space to relax.

In the bedroom, I only had a harsh overhead light. It didn’t create a relaxing atmosphere, and I struggled to unwind after a long day.

5. Lack of Personal Connection:

The walls were bare, and the space lacked personal touches. It didn’t feel like it reflected who I was or what I loved.

Applying Feng Shui Principles

Here’s how I used Feng Shui to transform my space:

1. Declutter and Organize:

I started by tackling the clutter in my living room (read amazing benefits of decluttering). I sorted through everything and donated what I no longer needed.

I added shelves and baskets to organize the rest. As soon as the clutter was gone, the room felt lighter and more inviting.

I rearranged my office so my desk faced the door (rules for office desk). This simple change made a huge difference felt more in control and focused.

Now, I can see opportunities coming my way rather than feeling like I’m missing out.

To bring balance to my living room, I added some wooden bookshelves and a few plants. I also got a small tabletop fountain to introduce the water element.

The room instantly felt warmer and more balanced, becoming a place where I wanted to spend more time.

I added lamps with soft, warm bulbs to my bedroom, along with a dimmer switch for the overhead light. This allowed me to adjust the lighting based on my mood, making the room a perfect place to relax and recharge.

I hung up some family photos that I loved. Adding these personal touches made my home feel like a true reflection of me, full of memories and stories.
